Achberg Municipal Coat of Arms

Shield Argent, issuant from base a triplemount Vert charged with a bar wavy Argent, above an impending cross patty Sable.
Meaning:
Since 1900 local seals displayed an 8-fold mount Vert under an 8-point star Sable. The arms and thus the tinctures were introduced much later and the pattern was abolished in 1968. The 8-fold mount was supposed to be canting as the municipalities name was interpreted as Achtberg, which is an 8-fold mountain. The star had been a mere decoration. On 1 January 1969 the municipality adopted the current symbols. Triplemount and bar wavy are considered to be canting as mountain at the Ach, a little river. The black cross is alluding to the Teutonic Order, which ruled the Lordship of Achberg from 1691 to 1801. The flag colours also allude to the order and to Hohenzollern as well, as Achberg had been an exclave of Sigmaringen County from 1806 to 1968.
