Shield Argent an alder branch Vert with three leaves, chief parted per bend sinister of Argent and Gules charged with an 8-point star Azure on dexter chiefpoint, base Gules charged with a fess wavy Argent.
Meaning:
The municipal arms are based on the family arms of the Altenburger kin, whose arms displayed a red triangle issuant from dexter flanch on a white shield with red base. Dorothe Altenburger, daughter of the family´s last member and her husband founded the Hospital of Irlbach. The branch of alder (German: Erle) is canting, because the name of the municipality means "alder creek". The star is an attribute of Our Lady of Assumption, the local patron saint. The fess wavy is representing the name giving Erlbach and the Donau (Danube) as well. The adoption of the municipal arms is stressing the independence of the municipality, which had been incorporated into Straßkirchen in 1978 and regained its independence by a verdict of the Bavarian Constitutional Court in 1983.
