Saarwellingen Coat of Arms

Shield Azure, a lion rampant double queued Or, flanked in chief at dexter by an impending 5-spokes wheel Argent and at sinister by a bezant charged with a throughout cross moline Gules.
Meaning:
On 1 January 1974 the municipalities of Reisbach, Saarwellingen proper and Schwarzenholz merged. The lion is taken from the arms of Saarwellingen proper, the wheel from those of Schwarzenholz and the bezant with cross from those of Reisbach. Saarwellingen had been a lordship under direct imperial rule (German: reichsunmittelbare Herrschaft) in the 17th and 18th century and was ruled by the Lords of Kriechingen. The cross moline was a local symbol and could be found on boundary stones and had become a part of the family arms of the Lords of Kriechingen in 1546. In 1726 Saarwellingen was acquired by the Counts of Wied-Runkel. The double queued lion is depicted on their family arms. The wheel is taken from the arms of the abbey (and city) of Fraulautern, the tincture of the wheel was however changed from golden to silver. Fraulautern Abbey had also been under direct imperial rule, and Schwarzenholz had been a dominion of the abbey.
