Coat of Arms

Description of coat of arms:
The shield is divided per pale. The dexter side is divided per fess showing above a half red, rampant, double-queued lion armed and tongued blue in a silver(=white) field; below showing two golden(=yellow) acorns ordered (more or less) horizontally in a red field. The sinister side is showing a church tower in natural colour upon a green base in a blue field.
Meaning:
According to source the acorns had been already on the seal of a medieval law court in Eitorf, the lion is representing the counts and dukes of Berg, the former rulers. The tower was that one of the local parish church, established in 1167 and demolished in 1889. The tower remained as a landmark of Eitorf but it was destroyed by allied bombing during WWII in March 1945.
