    Stuppach Coat of Arms

Nearly two thirds of the blue shield are covered by a silver (= white) wall partially masoned black. In front of the wall is St.Mary with the Holy Infant. Mary wears a red robe and a blue coat. Jesus and Mary have fair hair. A rainbow around Mary's head is superimposing the chief.
    Meaning:
It is an image of the Madonna of Stuppach. The Madonna was painted from 1516 until 1519 by Matthias Grünewald as central part of a tryptichon of the altar of "St.Mary of the Snows" in the St.Peter and Alexander Church in Aschaffenburg. The right part showed the "miracle of the snow", which should have happened in Rome in 352. The left part had disappeared. The central part was transferred to Stuppach in 1812. After having been restored it came back there in 2012.

    Markelsheim Coat of Arms

The shield is divided per fess. The upper half is divided per pale. Above right the silver (= white) field is divided by a black, centred cross, cotized black - red. Above left the field is divided per fess into silver (= white) over red. Above are two blue pieces of vair. The lower half shows a green triple mount at the base of a golden (= yellow) field. Above the mountain are black, impending initials "M" and "A", flanked by three tiny black Greek crosses as separators.
    Meaning:
The upper half shows elements from the arms of Walther von Cronberg, Germanmaster (Deutschmeister) of the Teutonic Order. The dexter side displays the cross of the Order while the sinister side displays elements taken from Cronberg's family arms. The lower half of the shield displays distinguishing marks, especially the first two letters of the municipality's name. Arms and banner of Igersheim and Markelsheim are nearly the same.
