    Tauberbischofsheim Coat of Arms

    Description of coat of arms:
In a red shield is a silver(=white) helmet crested by a wheel with seven spokes and attached by four ribbons ending in roses, all of the same colour.
    Meaning:
According to source the archbishopric of Mainz gained the village of Tauberbischofsheim in 1237 and the fiefdom of a castle in 1316. The archbishops were rulers of the city until 1802. The helmet is symbolizing this fiefdom. The image was taken from seals and was not changed until 1740. 1865 some elements had been added. I have no information, when the old version was re-established.

    Distelhausen Coat of Arms

Shield Argent, issuant from a triplemount Vert a thistle shrub Vert, having two intertwined stems with altogether six leaves and seven blossoms Azure.
    Meaning:
The thistle (German: Distel) is canting. The pattern appeared first on a local seal from 1586. A later seal displayed just one thistle together with an intial "D". A stamp from 1894 century displayed in a crowned shield two intertwined thistles without blossoms. In 1900 the Karlsruhe State Archive redesigned arms based on the first seal, which was in principle adopted by the municipality in 1901. Distelhausen used however the pattern from 1894 even after WWI.
