Tirschenreuth County Coat of Arms until 1972

Shield parted per pale; at dexter Sable a sinister-facing lion rampant Or, crowned, armed and tongued Gules; at sinister Argent a wyvern rampant Gules armed Or.
Meaning:
The arms display a differentiation of the Palatine lion , as the county historically belonged to the Pfalz. The wyvern is taken from the legendary arms of Count Diepold of Cham-Vohburg, who founded the Cistercian Waldsassen Monastery. The monastery acquired a huge territory until 1804, when it was dismantled and also used the wyvern in its arms. Most of the county was owned by the monastery.

Santiago Dotor, 7 July 2003

The banner was approved on 19 November 1968 and the arms were approved on 2 October 1957 by Minister of Interior of Bayern.
