Hörselberg-Hainich Coat of Arms

Shield quartered, 1st and 4th quarter Argent a pale interrupted Sable, 2nd quarter Vert an ammonite Or, 3rd quarter Vert a beech leaf in pale Or.
Meaning:
The interrupted pales together with their backgrounds have the shape of two initials "H" and are representing the name of the municipality. The beech leaf is taken from the former arms of Behringen. The ammonite is referring the fossils found in the local chalk mountains.

Hörselberg Coat of Arms

Shield parted per pale of Argent and Vert, issuant from base a triplemount in counterchanged tinctures, issuant from both peaks in flanches two thistles in counterchanged tinctures, bordure of alternating red and yellow pieces.
Meaning:
The municipality was established by a merger of 11 former municipalities, which are symbolised by the red pieces of the bordure. As new common symbol a thistle was chosen, a typical plant on the local soil, being rich of chalk. The shield is divided to symbolise that the municipality is partly North and partly South of the name giving Hörselberg, a mountain, represented by the triplemount in base.

Shield parted per fess, above Or three beech leaves Vert in fess, bneath Vert a lower demi sun radiant Or.
Meaning:
The beech leaves are probably representing the Großenbehringer Holz, a local forest.
