Hanstedt Comprehensive Municipality

SG Hanstedt Flag

It is a yellow-red-yellow horizontal triband with ratio of stripes approx. 2:9:2. The coat of arms is in the midde of the yellow stripe. There was also a red over yellow horizontal bicolour with centred arms.

SG Hanstedt Coat of Arms

Shield Or, a blackcock statant proper.
Meaning:
The blackcock is a typical animal for the moors and heathers in the area and is thus chosen as a symbol for the municipality, but also as a symbol for tourism. Blackcocks are still living in the area of the comprehensive municipality.

It is a red over white horizontal bicolour superimposed by the coat of arms.

Asendorf Coat of Arms

The shield is divided per fess. The chief shows a red Greek cross superimposed by a red saltire in a silver (=white) field. The base shows a silver arm holding a torn chain in its hand in a red field.
Meaning:
The crosses are denoted as an 8-star, symbolizing the Nordic Gods and Goddesses from the Edda poem (germ: "Asen") who gave the village its name. The arm is that of old age hero Hinnark the Strong, who is said to have lived in Asendorf.

Egestorf Coat of Arms

In a red shield is a silver (=white) church with a separated bell-tower on the chief and five golden (=yellow) ears of grain on the base.
Meaning:
It's a picture of the old St.Stephens (=Stephanus) church in Egestorf.
The grain symbolizes the 5 villages which form the municipality. They are Egestorf, Sahrendorf, Schätzendorf , Döhle and Evendorf. The villages were united on 1 July 1972. Sahrendorf and Schätzendorf merged already in 1928.

Hanstedt Coat of Arms

The shield is divided per fess. The base is a red field with a silver (=white) fess wavy. The chief is divided per pale. In the dexter chief is a red windmill in a silver (=white) field. In the sinister chief is a silver (=white) man, throwing a big stone, in a green field.
Meaning:
The wavy line is representing the Aue creek. The windmill stands for a historic mill. The bearded man is an image of the famous giant "Brunse", who is about to throw a stone into the village.

Marxen Coat of Arms

The shield is divided per pale. On the dexter side is a silver (=white) kettle hook in a red field. On the sinister side is a broken branch of an oak tree with two green leaves and two green acorns.
Meaning:
The kettlehook marks the existence of a very old settlement of early tribes of Germans. The branch points out, that the village was located near a wood and the old name of the village was indeed "Marxen am Wald" (=Marxen near the wood).

Undeloh Coat of Arms

The shield is divided per pale. The dexter side shows in a silver (=white) field a red bell-tower with green roof placed on green ground. The sinister side shows in a black field golden (=yellow) antlers of a stag.
Meaning:
The tower is the landmark of the municipality. The antlers are taken from the coat of arms of the former municipality of Wehlen, which forms together with Undeloh and Wesel the current municipality.
