Tröstau Coat of Arms

Shield parted by a mountain's natural silhouette of Sable and Argent, in base two bear paws Sable armed Gules, the dexter one holding an angel iron Gules in bend sinister and the sinister one a hammer Gules in bend.
Meaning:
In 1978 Tröstau merged with Vordorf. The silhouette is taken from the former arms of Tröstau and depicting the Kösseine, a famous peak in the Fichtelgebirge, having a viewing balcony. The tinctures are those of the Burgraves of Nürnberg and their successors, the Margarves of Brandenburg-Bayreuth, who ruled the area since the 14th century. The bear paws are taken from the arms of Vordorf and are based on the family arms of the Lords of Hertenberg. The angel is symbolising mining and depletion of granite. The hammer is symbolising a forge, which existed in Vordorf since 1398. Until the 19th century ore mining and tin smeltery had been the most important business lines. The importance of granite depletion increased in the 19th century but was finished in 1945.
