In the province of Alicante, there are several municipalities that have the Aragonese colours (yellow flag with four red stripes) with the municipal CoA in the center. The municipality of Santa Pola (58,6 km² and 30.987 hab., 2008) is located in the comarca of Baix Vinalopo (Spanish: Bajo Vinalopó).

"The municipal coat of arms is divided per pale: 1. Aragon, or four bars gules, 2. argent, upon a sea azure a tower proper surmounted by an anchor; all surmounted by a royal open crown. The shield is bordered with green branches and is placed in the geometric center of the flag."
The shield can be seen everywhere in the city: street signs, the doors of the town hall... In all instances, the cartouche (the external support) is yellow. However on the flag hoisted at the entrance of the City, the cartouche is red, and in the version that appears in "Banderas 34," the shield is not on a cartouche at all, and also lacks the green branches.
