Symbols of Montecorto

The flag (photo, photo) and arms of Montecorto, adopted on 23 October 2015 by the Municipal Council and submitted on 20 January 2016 to the Directorate General of the Local Administration, are prescribed by a Resolution adopted on 21 January 2016 by the Directorate General of the Local Administration and published on 8 February 2016 in the official gazette of Andalusia, No. 25, p. 41 (text).
The symbols are described as follows:

Coat of arms: Spanish shield. Per pale, 1a. Or a dolmen argent masoned sable, 1b. Vert a flint stone axe handled argent masoned sable, 2. On the flag, blue represents water and the stainless sky over Montecorto. Green represents the pine wood overlooking the village. White is the characteristic colour of the house's facades.
On the arms, the dolmen represents the numerous Prehistoric sites located in the neighborhood. The ruined castle represents the Mulberry's castle, a watch tower of Arab origin (photo). The fig represents the most common and popular fruit in the municipality. The waves represents the profuse water resources that allowed the emergence of the village. The crown and the yoke (not mentioned in the official description) are taken from the arms of Ronda, recalling that Montecorto depended on Ronda for centuries.

The symbols, first adopted in 2003 by the Management Committee of the municipality; were prescribed by an Edict (text) signed by the Village Mayor on 10 April 2005.
The coat of arms, still shown on the header of the municipal weskits, had a different arrangement of the charges and colours: "Per pale, Vert a dolmen argent and a pine of the same in pale, 2. Azure a castle or masoned sable surmounted by a yoke of the same. Grafted in base azure and argent a fig purpure. The shield surmounted by a coronet."
The flag also exists with the old version of the coat of arms (photo).
