The white stripe [used on the national flag
of 1964.01.01-1966.02.28] was a feature of the flag of the ruling
Convention Peoples’ Party. After Kwame Nkrumah was kicked out the
older flag was restored.

N.P.P. the most voted party in the Presidential Elections in Ghana
with Mr. John Agyekum Kufuor as presidential candidate.
The New Patriotic Party was founded in 1992 and has for its symbol the
elephant in a red, white and blue background, which are the colours of
the Party. The results now are 99 for NPP to 92 for NDC
(National Democratic Congress), the former ruling party.
