Local Council Hurfeish (pronounced Khur'feish) is
situated on Road 89 east of Ma'alot-Tarshiha
in the Galilee. Founded abour 400 years ago and a Local Council
since 1967. Pop. 4,500, 96% of them Druze.
During my visit I spotted the unofficial municipal flag, white
with the emblem in natural colours with inscription in Hebrew
below it. I found no adequate image of the emblem so I drew it
myself. The municipal emblem was published in the official
gazette (Rashumot, Yalkut HaPirsumim), YP 1533, 19
September 1969.

Hurafeish is situated in the heart of the Galilee Mountains on
the sloops of Mount Meron ridge. The site is known from the

maybe connected to the Emirs family of Al-Khrafsha that were
settled there.
Near the village there is the Druze's sacred grave of Nabi
Sabalan (The Prophet Zevulun).
Two weeks ago I visited the village and saw only remains of flags
after shrouded in the winter.
