Local Council Kaokab Abu Al-Hija (meaning Abu Al-Hija's
star in Arabic) is situated in the Lower Galilee on Mount
Atzmon, and is a Muslim village of the Abu el-Hija family. In my
visit there were no flags on the brand new city hall. Flag was
reported as white with emblem (colour not specified; I drew it
black but it is probably blue or green). This information needs
further confirmation so the flag is only probable. The municipal
emblem was published in the official gazette (Rashumot),
'Publications Gazette' section (Yalkut ha'Pirsumim), YP
3990, 2 September 1992.

Kaokab Abu Al-Hija (usually refered to as just Kaokab) is a
local council since 1984 with population of 2,600 (2003),
Kaokab means "star" - hence the star on the emblem.
It probably kept the name of an ancient Jewish community named
Kokhav or Kokhva.
