The city embelm was adopted on Oct 1st 1987 by Notice No 194 but there is no flag law. The white flag has a red city emblem in the center. The city emblem is a stylized hiragana さ Sa and kanji 山 Yama. The circle symbolizes a friendly citizen. As a whole, it represents an image of the city making a leap forward to the future.
