The logo mark was adopted in 1949 by Hiroshi Kasuga, chairman of the Osaka Sports Federation (the predecessor of the Osaka Sports Association). The design is based on the image of an athletic track and the letter "O" for Osaka, with the kanji word "Osaka" in the center. It is widely used as the symbol mark of the Osaka Sports Association, and is well known among sports enthusiasts in Osaka Prefecture. The red color of the track represents the energy of the industrial city of Osaka at that time. The blue color of the outline of the Osaka track represents the city of water, symbolizing youthfulness, sincerity and hope. The white flag depicting the green-colored logo is the flag of the Osaka Sports Union [second image in this section], an affiliate of the Osaka Sports Association established in 1947.
