The city flag was adopted on Jun 1st 1970 by the City Notice No 29-2.
It is a green flag charged with white city emblem in the center. The flag proportions are 2:3.
The city emblem is a stylized old kana カ (KA), depicted as two fans.
Originally Kobe was called "port of fans." The two ports of Hyogo and Kobe looked like displayed fans.

The flag of the former town of Uozaki was blue with mark. The town is now,
from 1950, part of the city of Kobe.
