1. Symbol
- Ground (white color): The white ground symbolizes the vision of Mokpo City, which means Change, Challenge, and Growth
- Three Flag Figures (2 Greens and Blue): These flag figures symbolize strong characteristics of the ocean waves.
- Space in the middle (White): It symbolizes an image of Mt. Yudal, which is the first symbol of Mokpo City
- Curve on the bottom (Blue): It is a simplified figure of a ship, which is a symbol of the Port City.
2. Description
Three flags
- The figure of ocean waves is imaged up to brisk movements of the flags.
- The three flags are based on the idea of Asian Samjae, which expresses the importance of the heaven, the earth, and human. They also mean development of Land, Air, and Marine on the basis of Onajeonsu Concept. Furthermore, they symbolize Mokpo as a gateway city to the world.
Mt. Yudal in the Middle
- This mountain is a representative image of Mokpo City
- It creates Mokpo citizens' sympathy of unity and development that brings pride and love of the city.
The Ship on the Bottom
- This curve is simplified figure of a ship that sails around the world. As a city of tourism and the center of international trading, this curve includes hope for the unity of Mokpo City.
- The shape of a ship moving forward is designed as a curve that harmonize the whole picture of the flag.
