Paszowice - rural commune, Jawor County, Dolnośląskie Voivodship - former
German name: Poischwitz.
Commune Council's resolution (uchwala) # VI/40/2003 dated March 28,
2003, says:
"Arms of the Paszowice Commune are in the form of the knight's shield,
divided into three fields and showing the image of Princess Agnes (Agnieszka)
standing upright with two ornamental Coat of Armśs on both sides of her.
The Princess dons the coif on her head, wears a long gown under equally
long coat, adorned at the shoulders with the large balls.
The Princess stands on the console and holds in her hands a trefoil.
On her right is a Coat of Arms with the Silesian eagle, on her left the checkerboard
of Glogow.
The rest of the Coat of Arms suggests a courtain of lillies.
The colors of the commune are green and gold."
Chrystian Kretowicz, 10 Sep 2008
The flag of Paszowice is a bit different than the one reported previously.
According to the page about symbols at the municipal
website, the flag is indeed green and gold but not divided horizontally.
It is a gold pile on green in ratio 1:2. A vertical banner is also
shown on the page above.

The earlier version of the commune's website didn't elaborate on the
shape of the flag, stating only laconically: "the colors of the commune
are: green and gold".

Agnes of Bohemia (1205-'82) was the daughter of King Ottokar of Bohemia.
She was engaged to Boleslaus when she was three (3!), and when he died,
to Henry, son of Emperor Fred II, when she was nine. She was overjoyed
when Henry married the daughter of the Duke of Austria, as she had offered
herself to God and hoped to live a life of austerity and virginity. Her
brother affianced her to Fred, and when in 1235 Fred sent for her she petitioned
Pope Gregory IX to intercede for her; when he did, Fred released her from
the engagement. In 1236 she built a convent for the Friars Minor in Prague,
and Agnes took the veil there. She was named abbes soon after and became
renowned for her humility, aid to the poor, and her dedication to poverty.
She died in Prague on March 2.
