Idanha-a-Nova Commune was one of the pre-2013 communes of Idanha-a-Nova Municipality; it had 2352 inhabitants in 2011 and covered 228.0 km².

Shield Argent, an eradicated olive tree Vert, fruited Sable, in chief an orbicular cross Gules at dexter and two scimitars Azure, crossed per saltire, at sinister Mural crown Argent with three visible towers (village rank) and white scroll with inscription in black capitals "ALCAFOZES".
Meaning:
The cross is alluding to the Templars, the scimitars probably to the Moors.
