Shield Azure, a bend wavy Argent cherged with a bendlet wavy Azure, flanked in sinister chief by a lion Or holding a crozier Or and in dexter base by a radiant sun Or with face. Mural crown Argent with three visible towers (village rank) and white scroll reading in black upper case letters "FREGUESIA DE SANTO TIRSO".
Meaning:
According to information given to Sérgio Horta by the communal government (surely taken from the original CHAAP memoire), the bend stands for the River Ave, the lion for the local, eponymous Benedictine Monastery (these two surely shared by the municipal arms, and the sun for local philantropists.
