Shield Argent with base wavy of Azure and Argent, charged with a millstone Gules, above a jar Gules flanked by two corn plants Vert. Mural crown Argent with three visible towers (village rank) and white scroll reading in black upper case serifed letters "CABANELAS - VILA VERDE".
Meaning:
The millstone is a representation of the many former grain mills, the fertile lowlands, base of the production of rye, oat, corn and wine. The base wavy is a representation of the Cávado River and the Poriço Creek. The jar is symbolising the local clay, base of the local pottery.

Cabanelas is one of the 21 communes of Vila Verde Municipality not affected by the 2013 changes; it had 1973 inhabitants in 2021 and covers 6,21 km².
