Overview

Many designs were used by the Crimean Russian nationalist in the years 1989-1992. One of the most used (together with Russian colors in several arrangements) was the white flag with blue map that was the Rejected Proposal that was rejected by parliament in 25 February 1992. The most wanted proposal (most wanted by the Parliament,  I believe) was a flag horizontal divided in two parts: below was white and above with the seven rainbow colors (R-O-Y-V-light B- dark B-P).On 6 May 1992, the Parliament declared independence but no official flag was adopted at the date. On 5 June 1992 five
proposals were submitted to the Parliament:
Proposal No. 1 - Same flag as the current one but with lower narrow stripe in blue instead of red.
Proposal No. 2 - Flag described before (rainbow and white).
Proposal No. 3 - White over light Blue.
Proposal No. 4 - Y-V-B horizontal with a red vertical stripe (same size as the vertical ones) at the hoist.
Proposal No. 5 - The current design with the arms in center (not the variant of the Jefesov project, adopted 25 February 1992 but with new arms).
This last flag, proposed by V. Trusov and A. Mal'gin was the prefered one. The arms from G. Jefetov and V. Jagunov was recommended. Supreme Soviet charged to 4 artists and G. Golubjatnikov made the final design of the state symbols. Final designs were submitted in the second session of the Supreme Soviet at the first day of its sessions (24-9-92) and was adopted with a important variation: the arms adopted (a gules varegian-type shield with griffin of argent between two columns and with a conch with a blue pearl in the hand) isn't shown on the flag. Above arms has a ribbon with the inscription: Prosperity within unity.
I believe that source is a translation from Czech magazine "Vexilologie" [vex].
