Amathole is one of seven districts in the Eastern Cape province of South Africa. The district headquarters are located in East London (part of the Buffalo City Metropolitan Municipality).

The district contains the following local municipalities: Mnquma, Mbhashe, Amahlathi, Ngqushwa, Great Kei and Raymond Mhlaba.
