On 18 April 2021 the new commune of Tresa was formed through the merger of Croglio, Monteggio,
Ponte Tresa and Sessa (see below).
As the emblem of Ponte Tresa, the new emblem of Tresa takes up the bridge over the Tresa river at the
Swiss-Italian border.

The fruits on the flag of Croglio are hazel-nuts. The red castle (in Italian castello
rosso) makes the flag canting [referring to Castelrotto. The hazel-nut is called croy and
colurin in the local dialect].
