Aschaffenburg County Coat of Arms

Shield parted per pale, at dexter Gules a 6-spokes wheel Argent, at sinister Azure a bend sinister Argent charged with three annulets Azure, chief Argent charged with an acorn Vert flanked by two oak leaves in saltire of the same.
Meaning:
The coat of arms displays a charge symbolising the nature of the Spessart region: oak leaves, the wheel of Archbishopric Mainz and the arms of the Echter kin of Mespelbrunn. The capital of the county was one of the major cities and strongholds of the archbishops of Mainz. The arms of the Echter kin were added as the important Bishop Julius of Würzburg (bishop from 1573-1617) belonged to this family.

It was a red-white-blue vertical tricolour with arms shifted to top. The county was integrated into Aschaffenburg county during the 1972 municipal reform.

Alzenau County Coat of Arms

Shield parted per fess; above parted per pale, at dexter Gules a 6-spokes wheel Argent, at sinister Or three chevrons Gules; bneath Argent a crozier issuant Azure in pale.
Meaning:
A large part of the county, around the city of Alzenau, was from 1500-1736 a free area, jointly governed by the Archbishops of Mainz and the Counts of Hanau. This is shown in the upper half by the wheel of Mainz and the chevrons of the counts. The lower part is symbolising the abbeys of St.Peter and Alexander in Aschaffenburg and Seligenstadt, which had many estates in the county. The colours below are those of Bayern.
