Großaitingen Coat of Arms

Shield lozengy of Argent and Azure, in centre an orb Or without cross.
Meaning:
In the 11th and 12th century the Chapter of Augsburg acquired so many estates in the area, that Großaiting became the biggest connected possession of the Bishopric of Augsburg. Bishop Clemens Wenzelslaus of Augsburg (1739 - 1812) invited all municipalities alongside the Hochstraße (English: Highway), to mark their properties, among those boundary stones and boundary-posts, fences and public equipment, by local symbols. Großaitingen and the neighbouring Kleinaitingen chose as their symbols the orb from the arms of Schwabmünchen. Since the municipality belonged to Bayern, the shield was lozengy of white and blue. The former arms, displaying grain ears, branches of trees and rural tools around a shield were abolished in 1928.

The arms were approved on 21 August 1954 by Minister of Interior of Bayern. The banner in Bavarian colours white and blue had never been approved officially.
