Gersthofen Coat of Arms

Shield parted per pale of Gules and Argent, charged with a cogwheel in counterchanged tinctures, in base a fess wavy Azure.
Meaning:
The basic tinctures are those of the City and the Bishopric of Augsburg as well. Gersthofen belonged to an Imperial Bailiwick and had been an Imperial Fiefdom (Reichslehen) since 1427 administrated, by the city. The Chapter of Augsburg furthermore had been the most important manorial lord in the village. The fess wavy is representing the Lech River, crossing the city. The cogwheel is representing industries, which caused a boost of the village since 1902. Gersthofen gained the title of a market town in 1950 and of a city after 1965.
