Ainring Coat of Arms

Shield parted per fess, above Or at dexter hammer and mallet Sable in saltire and at sinister a lion's head Sable tongued Gules, beneath Sable an annulet Or with gem stone Argent.
Meaning:
The lion's head is a differentiation of the arms of the Archbishopric of Salzburg, which ruled the village for more than 1000 years. Also the main tinctures are alluding to the archbishopric. The village was donated to the Nonnberg Nunnery in Salzburg in the 8th century by the Bavarian Duke Theodebert. Hammer and mallet, the symbols of mining, are referring to ore mining and processing in Hammerau since the 16th century. The Annahütte steel mill developed in 1924 and became the biggest local employer with 380 employees in 2000. The annulet is taken from the arms of the Franconian Rüsenbach kin, whose arms displayed the annulet with blue gem stone on red background. As the name sounds like "one ring" the annulet is also a punning element. Friedrich of Rüsenbach had been the local parish priest in the 16th century and built the local parsonage in 1532.
