Freilassing Coat of Arms

Shield Gules, on mount issuant Vert a horse forcene Argent, jumping over a salt barrel Or.
Meaning:
The barrel is referring to the former name Salzburghofen, the neighbouring old salt road and salt shipping on the Salzach River. The barrel is also an attribute of St. Rupert and is referring to Rupert's corner (German: Rupertiwinkel), the northern part of the current county, which historically belonged to the Archbishopric of Salzburg. The horse is a punning element. The name of the city means "unharnessed", symbolised by the untamed horse. Freilassing gained city rights in 1957. The colours of the banners are the main tinctures of the arms. Hooves, mane and tail are sometimes depicted Or.

The arms were approved in by 1936 by German governor (Reichsstatthalter) in Bayern. The banners are used without approval.
