Bülstringen Coat of Arms

Above right Or a sinister facing cow's head Azure, beneath right a halberd in bend sinister, both fields parted by a bend sinister in counterchanged tinctures.
Meaning:
Due to a decision of the local council a historical episode from the 17th century had been chosen as base of the arms. Then a private little war between the inhabitants of Bülstringen and Neuhaldensleben occurred. The citizens of Neuhaldensleben drove their cattle and other stock into the pastures of Bülstringen. Obviously the pastures were damaged and Bülstringen forbade further use of its pastures. The citizens of Neuhaldensleben made an armed assault against their opponents, led by the mayor. Some people of Bülstringen had been killed and many injured. After mutual complaints the cause was sentenced by the government, and the mayor was sentenced to death. But that judgement was not enforced. As a result the use of pastures was transformed from common law to codified law. The parted bend sinister is symbolising two streets "Mordgraben" (= murder's moat) and "Triftweg" (= pasture way), the cow's head is representing the cattle, and the halberd the fight.
