Weiden Coat of Arms

Shield parted per fess; above parted per pale, at dexter Sable a lion rampant Or, crowned, armed and tongued Gules; at sinister lozengy of Argent and Azure; beneath Gules a willow Vert on central peak of a triplemount issuant of the same.
Meaning:
The canting willow (German: Weide) first appeared alone on a secret seal, known by prints from 1434. The Palatine lion and the Bavarian lozenges were added in 1510. The date of that year appeared on the greater and lesser seal and on all seals until the late 16th century. The first coloured painting was made by Philipp Apian in 1568. Since the painting of Johann Siebmacher from 1605 the tree had been a weeping willow. Otto Hupp (1925) displayed the willow on a silver background.

The colours of the banner are traditional. The arms were granted on 25 January 1510 by Elector Ludwig of the Palatinate (Pfalz) and Palatine Count Friedrich.
