Lutzingen Coat of Arms

Shield parted per pale, at dexter Or a wing Gules in base and a royal crown Gules in chief, at sinister Gules a lion rampant Or holding three blossoms Argent by his dexter forepaw.
Meaning:
The wing is an attribute of St. Michael, the local patron saint of Lutzingen proper. The royal crown is alluding to the Staufen kin, who owned estates in Lutzingen before 1268. It is also alluding to Abbot Coelestin Königsdorfer, the last abbot of the Holy Cross Monastery in Donauwörth. His brother, the writer Martin Königsdorfer had been reverend in Lutzingen between 1732 and 1735. The sinister half is representing the former municipality of Unterliezheim. The charges are taken from the arms of Coelestin Mayer, who had been provost in Unterliezheim between 1732 and 1735 and afterwards imperial abbot of the Abbey of St. Ulricus and St. Afra in Augsburg until 1753. He built the church in Unterliezheim and financed it from own resources.
