Ziertheim Coat of Arms

Shield parted per pale, at dexter Or a bend sinister Azure charged with three 6-point stars Or, at sinister Gules a key Argent in bend sinister under a key Or in bend, base parted per pale of Gules and Argent.
Meaning:
The dexter half displays the personal arms of the imperial prelate of Neresheim Michael Dobler. After the secularisation in 1803 he retired and lived since then in the castle in the Ziertheim district (Bavarian: Hofmark). Since then he called himself Lord of Ziertheim. His arms are also representing all the former owners of the district. The keys are an attribute of St. Peter, patron saint of the Augustine Convent (CRSA) of Berchtesgaden. They are also part of the town arms of Berchtesgaden. The convent owned large estates and was affiliated with Dattenhausen for nearly 300 years. The base displays the tinctrues of the Bishopric of Augsburg and is representing Reistingen. Here had been a Benedictine Nunnery, founded in 1250 by the Counts of Dillingen and dissolved in 1450 by Pope Nicolas V, who gave it to the bishopric, which also held the local cognisance, completely since 1783. Dattenhausen and Reistingen merged with Ziertheim on 1 May 1978.
