SG Meinersen Coat of Arms

Shield parted per fess, above Argent a lion passant Azure tongued Gules, beneath chequered of Azure and Argent.
Meaning:
The chequered field is probably alluding to the Lords of Meinersen, first mentioned in 1147. Duke Otto the Severe of Braunschweig conquered Meinersen Castle and the region in 1316. The lion is a modification from the arms of the dukes of Braunschweig and Lüneburg.

Meaning:
The chequered field is probably alluding to the Lords of Meinersen, first mentioned in 1147. The millwheel is alluding to the local watermill.

Meaning:
The chequered field is probably alluding to the Lords of Meinersen, first mentioned in 1147. Sword and scales here are alluding to the fact that Meinersen had been seat of a court until 1959.
