Vellberg Coat of Arms

Shield Azure with canton Or, an eagle's wing Argent.
Meaning:
Vellberg was first mentioned as a castle of the Lords of Vellberg, commissionaires of the Staufen kin, in 1263. After the Vellberg kin became extinct, the Lords of Flügelau acquired the castle, and later on, in 1318 the Counts of Hohenlohe. Benath the castle a market town developed, which gained city rights in 1500. Since the beginning of the 17th century the Imperial City of Schwäbisch Hall stepwise gained control over the city. In 1803 it became a dominion of Württemberg. The city had no proper seals nor arms. The wing is taken from the arms of the Lords of Flügelau and the Lords of Vellberg as well. The canton had also been part of the arms of the Lords of Vellberg.

The current arms were approved on 28 October 1936. The flag was approved on 6 December 1954 by the government of Baden-Wüürttemberg.
