Coat of Arms

Shield Gules with embowed base Vert, a lamb forcene Argent armed Or, in sinister chief a twine of hops Or fruited Or and leafed Argent.
Meaning:
The jumping lamb is a canting element, as the town's name is derived from lamb (German: Lamm) and jump (German: Sprung). The lamb appeared first on town seal at least from the 16th century. The Benedictines of the namesake monastery however claimed the symbol exclusively for themselves and displayed it as Paschal Lamb with an additional crozier. Since then the umbel of hops appeared in town seals, referring to the local cultivation of hops. Between 1933 and 1938 there had been attempts to combine both charges. First a twine of hops umbels surrounded the Paschal Lamb. The current pattern approaches the oldest seal.
The arms were approved in 1938 by Oberpräsident of Prussian Hannover Province. The flag never had been approved officially.

Harbarnsen Coat of Arms

Shield Argent a pale Gules charged with a spearhead Argent, in flanks two solar wheels Gules.
Meaning:
The arms are based on several legends from the village. One is about a Poltergeist, "the wild hunter", which is symbolised by the spear. The wheels are solar wheels and are an old Germanic symbol. They also play a role in local legends.
The arms were approved on 3 May 1939. The flag never had been approved officially.
