Shield Argent; a bear rampant Sable, armed and tongued Gules, holding by his forepaws an inescutcheon parted per pale dancetty of Or and Azure.
Meaning:
Singen gained city rights in 1899 and was renamed in 1938, when the mountain Hohentwiel was added to the name. Hohentwiel fortress had been lugged in 1800 and became a part of Baden in 1810. The village beneath the fortress used seals with inscriptions only from 1811 to 1899.The current pattern was introduced in 1899. The bear is alluding to many local estates, owned by St. Gallen Abbey. The inescutcheon displays the family arms of the Lords of Singen, who had been mentioned first in 1087. The tinctures are known from armourials from the 14th century.
