Jümme Coat of Arms

Description of coat of arms:
The shield is quartered. Above right (1st quarter) in a green field is a silver (= white) tower, which is flanked above by two spur wheels (or tierced 6-point mullets) of the same colour. Above left (2nd quarter) in a silver (= white) field is a green leaf of holly, flanked by five green balls left and another five green balls right. Below right (3rd quarter) the silver (= white) field is divided by four green fesses wavy. Below left (4th quarter) in a green field is a silver (= white) horsehead.
Meaning:
The 1st quarter is symbolizing the municipality of Detern. Here chieftain Focko Ukena in 1426 defeated his rival Ocko II tom-Brok and his allies and gained hegemony over East Frisia, but just for five years. The tower is representing the old castle of Stickhausen, an important East Frisian border fortress in the medieval. The spur wheels are alluding to the Cirksena kin, later on rulers of whole East Frisia. The leaf in the 2nd quarter is taken from the arms of Nortmoor and is representing this municipality. The 3rd quarter is representing the comprehensive municipality as a whole. The fesses wavy are symbolizing the little river Jümme, which gave the comprehensive municipality its name. The 4th quarter is representing the municipality of Filsum. The horsehead is representing equestrian sport and horse breeding in this municipality.
