Sauerlach Coat of Arms

Description of coat of arms:
In a silver (= white) shield is a black boar's head armed golden (= yellow). Above the head is an acorn flanked by two oak leaves, all in green. The shield has a blue base wavy.
Meaning:
The ensemble is canting. The name of the municipality is derived from Sulagloh, a place, where wild pigs went a muddy hole in the woods. The charges are also symbolizing riches of forests and wild boars in the past. The parts of oak furthermore are alluding to the former municipality of Eichenhausen, which was incorporated in 1978.

Flag, banner and coat of arms were approved by district government of Oberbayern on 5 April 1978

It has to be pointed out, that it is very rare for Bavarian municipalities to use horizontal flags; it is rather the rule that they are using one or several variants of vertical flags (Hängefahne, Banner, Knatterflagge). Sauerlach is using (or has used) a vertical version, as well.
