Coat of Arms

Shield Gules, on top of a triplemount issuant Vert a castle Argent with open port and portcullis, flanked by two embattled towers, charged with ribbons lozengy of Argent and Azure under the embattlements, two naked children with hobby horses Or grasping the paw and tail of a lion couchant guardant Or on top of the port.
Meaning:
The first seal, probably made around 1330 with prints since 1374, just displays a canting castle (German: Burg) on top of a mount. The 2nd seal from around 1400 only displayed an embattled tower with cone roof. The current pattern was introduced by Palatine Count Friedrich on occasion of the foundation of the Principality of Pfalz-Neuburg in 1505. The children are the young princes Ottheinrich and Philipp. Lozenges and lion can be found on the arms of all branches of the Wittelsbach kin.

The probably plain banner is in use since 1820. The arms were granted on 21 July 1506 by Palatine Count Friedrich of Pfalz-Neuburg.
