Rohrenfels Coat of Arms

Shield enhanced parted per fess, above Gules a badger passant Argent, beneath parted per pale, at dexter Sable with base wavy Or, at sinister Argent with base wavy Azure.
Meaning:
Until 1300 the name of the village had been Rohrbach. The base wavy is referring to that name giving creek on the edge of the Donau Marshes. The tinctures blue and white are those of the Duchy of Bayern and black and yellow those of the Principality of Pfalz-Neuburg, to which the village belonged since 1505. The badger (German: Dachs) is the heraldic animal of the Princes of Thurn and Taxis, the latter being derived from "Dachs". The family arms displayed a silver badger on a blue shield. Oktavian of Taxis acquired the Rohrenfels District (Bavarian: Hofmark) in 1618. He sold it to the Bavarian state in 1831. The badger is also representing the Dachsholz (literally: badger's wood), a local grove on the eastern edge of the municipality. The family arms of the Lords of Parsberg, local rulers between 1436 and 1505, displayed a shield parted per pale of black and white with a red chief.
