SG Oldendorf-Himmelpforten Coat of Arms

The shield is divided by a fess wavy Argent. Above in a blue field is a golden (= yellow) vault having five arches. Beneath the golden(= yellow) field is divided by a facetted throughout black cross.
Meaning:
Vault and fess wavy are taken from the arms of former SG Himmelpforten, the cross from those of former SG Oldendorf.

Himmelpforten Comprehensive Municipality (- 2013)

Samtgemeinde Himmelpforten consisted of the municipalities Düdenbüttel, Engelschoff, Großenwörden, Hammah, Himmelpforten (seat).
According to Hauptsatzung, dated 22 August 1996, it is a golden banner with a double blue flank with the coat of arms in the golden field. In fact it is easier. It is a blue-yellow-blue vertical triband with ratio between the stripes 1:3:1. The coat of arms is in the yellow field shifted to the top.

SG Himmelpforten Coat of Arms

The shield is divided per fess. The first field is blue with five connected golden Gothic vaults. The vault in the centre is slightly higher and topped by a black cross. Also topped by black crosses are the outer vaults. The second field is green superimposed by a white fessy, wavy line.
Meaning:
The vaults are probably representing the five municipalities being parts of the comprehensive municipality.

SG Oldendorf Coat of Arms

The shield is divided per fess. Above the golden(= yellow) field is divided by a facetted throughout black cross. Beneath is a golden urn in a green field.
Meaning:
The cross is adapted from that one in the arms of Oldendorf municipality and is symbolizing St. Martin's parish church in Oldendorf. The urn is taken from the arms of Heinbockel municipality and is representing the archaeological excavations in the area.

Burweg Municipality

Burweg Coat of Arms

Shield Vert, a milrind Argent, in chief a key Or in fess.
Meaning:
The green colour is symbolising the Ostermarsch landscape. The key is an attribute of St. Peter, patron saint of the church of Horst village. The milrind is symbolising excavations, which took place 1934 in Bossel village, where a house from the early Middle Ages was found.
The arms were approved on 22 March 1983 by Stade County.

Düdenbüttel Coat of Arms

The shield is divided per fess. In a blue field is a silver(=white) rider on a silver(=white) horse. The base is silver (=white) with three red flames (= piles wavy).
Meaning:
In the year 1764 the village suffered under a heavy firestorm, which left only five houses. A legend tells, that a rider on a white horse came from the direction of Stade. He stopped, looked at the fire, surrounded it once and cried with a mighty voice: "Not further than here!". He turned his horse and rode back without looking at the fire again. Then the fire indeed didn't extend any further. For this reason a special service was held in the local church until 1901.

Estorf Coat of Arms

Shield parted per pale; at dexter Vert a cut stem Argent in bend with four cut branches; at sinister Argent, above gable shelves Vert in saltire ending in horseheads at the top, beneath a kettle Vert garnished Argent.
Meaning:
The dexter half displays the family arms of the Lords of Estorf. It had already been the old coat of arms of Estorf. The kettle (German: Grapen) is a canting punning element and representing former Gräpel municipality. The crossed horseheads are representing former Behrste municipality, which has even today many traditional Lower Saxonian farmhouses with thatched roofs topped by crossed horseheads.
The arms were approved on 17 December 1973 by Stade County.

Hammah Municipality

The banner is light blue, flanked by two white stripes with centred coat of arms. The flag is a bit unusual. Normally German local flags repeat the colours of the arms. In this case the flag is based on the historical "colours" of the municipality, which are silver, light blue and green.

Hammah Coat of Arms

The silver (=white) shield displays the front of a typical local red farmhouse with silver (= white) half-timber and a thatched roof Proper. The green base is charged with a silver (= white) dolmen or, as it is called in Germany, a giant's grave. The displayed farmhouse nowadays is the municipal hall.

Himmelpforten Coat of Arms

In a blue shield with a very thin silver bordure is a golden Gothic vault. In the vault there is standing an abbess, dressed in a silver robe and holding a golden crozier.
Meaning:
The coat of arms reminds of a monastery, which had been established at this place by nuns of Cistercians (Sacer Ordo Cisterciensis(SOC)) about 750 years ago. They called it porta coeli (=heaven's gate or German: Himmelspforte).

Kranenburg Coat of Arms

Shield parted per pale, at dexter parted per fess, above Argent three piles Azure, beneath parted per fess embattled of Gules and Argent, at sinister Vert a bend wavy Argent.
Meaning:
The bend wavy is representing the Oste River, the green colour is alluding to the location in the marshes around the river. The piles display the family arms of the Marshalck kin. Its members had been commissioners of the Bishops of Bremen. The embattled partition per pale displays the arms of the Brobergen kin.

Oldendorf Coat of Arms

Shield parted per pale; at dexter Vert a throughout facetted cross Or; at sinister parted per fess, above Or a demi-eagle sable couped per pale and armed Gules, beneath Vert a lion issuant Or armed and tongued Gules.
Meaning:
The cross is representing local St. Martin parish church, which exists since the 11th century. The green colour is symbolising the rural character of the municipality. Eagle and lion, (another sock puppet lion) are taken from the arms of Daniel of Arentsschild, who had been ennobled in 1651 by Swedish King Christian, confirmed in 1653 by his successor Carl X Gustav. Daniel of Arentsschild took his seat in Oldendorf in 1642 and was buried in 1670 in the local parish church.
The arms were approved on 30 December 1982 by Stade County.
