The municipality of Navalmanzano (1,174 inhabitants in 2010; 3,279 ha; unofficial website) is located in the northwest of Segovia Province, 40 km from Segovia.
Navalmanzano was mentioned for the first time in a document of the
Segovia Cathedral dated 1155, as Nava de Maçanu. Incorporated to the
Community of the Town and Land of Cuéllar, Navalmanzano was granted
on 24 December 1461 by Henry IV to Beltrán de la Cueva.
The village is believed to be the birth place of the conquistador
Pánfilo de Narváez, the leader of a catastrophic expedition in Florida
known as the Narváez Expedition, which claimed in 1528 the life of most
of its 300 members, including Narváez himself.

The flag and arms of Navalmanzano are prescribed by a Decree adopted
on 10 June 1999 by the Municipal Council, signed on 18
June 1999 by the Mayor, and published on 30 June 1999 in the official gazette of
Castilla y León, No. 124, p. 6,971 (text).
The symbols are described
as follows:
Flag: Quadrangular flag, with proportions 1:1, horizontally divided blue-yellow. In the middle is placed the municipal coat of arms in full colors.
Coat of arms: Per pale, 1. Or a bend wavy azure in chief an apple tree [manzano] proper in base a pine of the same the two eradicated, 2. Argent a horse's head proper harnessed. The shield surmounted with a Royal Spanish crown.
