April 30, 2004. With the XXIV Ordinary Congress of The Confederation of North, Central American and Caribbean Association Football (CONCACAF) taking place in Grenada this weekend, the confederation has today unveiled its new logo.

"As CONCACAF enters a very exciting period it is essential that our visual identity should become uniformly applied and this new visual identity will provide CONCACAF with a strong and distinctive public face for many years to come," said CONCACAF Secretary General Chuck Blazer.

At a flag-raising ceremony held today at the CONCACAF Congress, the new logo stood proudly among the national flags of each of CONCACAF’s 40 members which are being flown throughout this weekend of Congress activities.

The new identity, including the logo, now replaces all previously used logos in official CONCACAF communications.

CONCACAF is one of six FIFA world confederations, serving as the governing body of soccer in North America, Central America and the Caribbean. It is composed of 40 members, spanning from Canada in the north to Suriname in the south.

The 61st FIFA congress was held at Hellenstadion in Zurich, Switzerland on 31 May - 01 June 2011 (www.fifa.com). Flags of the 208 member associations plus those of FIFA six continental confederations, International Olympic Committee, United Nations and FIFA itself were hoisted on the ceiling of Hellenstadion convention center.
Out of the photo gallery published by FIFA in its official website, I share the following notes:
- Chinese Taipei flag was a blue one with old association's emblem: plum blosoom with sun, ying-yang and footballs.
- The Curacao flag (blue with yellow stripe and white stars) is already hoisted, there is no flag for the defunc Netherlands Antilles.
- The Somalia flag was hoisted upside-down, e.g. downwar five-pointed star.
- The OFC flag is white withe the new emblem and abbreviation.
- The AFC flag is white.
- The UEFA flag is blue with the confederation's emblem
- The CONCACAF is white.
- The CAF flag bears the new logo on white background.

CONCACAF seems to have a new flag, as this picture (dated February 27, 2015) shows a darker blue background and the CONCACAF's logo having red and orange colors and the soccer ball in its "traditional" black and white truncated icosahedron pattern (derived from the Adidas Telstar soccer ball).

This flag is similar to those one reported as CONCACAF flag used between 2004 and 2011, but its background colour of the flag and typeface of abbreviation is different. It could be a flag variant.
Zoltan Horvath, 29 July 2015

I think the picture has a different logo. The logo I see is yellow in the center of each "ray/stripe" fading into red on the outter tips, and the logo you sent is rather plain orange.
Esteban Rivera, 29 July 2015

I think it's not red but orange, only lighter and darker. Red colour could be seem due to distortion of light circumstances of that photo.

December 1999. A new name, logo and web site have been introduced by the controlling body for football in the regions of North America, Central America and the Caribbean. Known since its formation in 1961 by the acronym CONCACAF, the Continental Confederation of FIFA which oversees the activities of 38 member associations will now be known as The Football Confederation.

The new logo shows a pentagon, split into three blocks by the figure of a soccer player. The three blocks represent the three regions of The Football Confederation.

Jack Warner, President of The Football Confederation, said: "We thought it was time to make a change, to present a more vibrant and modern image to a part of the world which is making such headway in the game. Now, instead of an awkward acronym, we have three simple and appropriate words."

General Secretary Chuck Blazer said: " Our official name remains the same - Confederation of North, Central American and Caribbean Association Football - but the new name is easier to say and easier to understand.

"It also takes the two most important words of our full title - Football and Confederation - and uses them as our new name, brand and address on the web, the communication tool which, over time, will mean so much to all our members and their respective public."

During the Televisa Deportes Mexican sports news daily-TV program broadcasted in someday in November in order to present the four teams representing CONCACAF to 2006 the World Cup, ie:

  • United States of America
  • Mexico
  • Costa Rica
  • Trinidad and Tobago
it was showed the following COCACAF flag... It seemed to be an early CONCACAF meeting. The three central stripes represent the three regions into which the CONCACAF is divided: North-America, Central-America and the Caribbean.
The images were too fast, so the following images are subject to further confirmation.
